  • March 12, 2006: The President's Federal 2007 Budget zeros-out funding for the USGS AmericaView program. This means that WisconsinView will lose its funding next year if AmericaView is not restored to the Budget by Congress. We hope that users who value WisconsinView will take notice of this funding crisis. [Note: Because AmericaView Inc. is a federally funded 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, WisconsinView is limited in the extent to which it can directly advocate restoration of funding to the Federal Budget.]
  • March 8, 2006: Weather Warning Tool for ArcMap is now available for Download. This tool lets users display National Weather Service weather warnings back to 2001.
  • February 2, 2006: Grad Student Summer Internships in Remote Sensing offered through AmericaView. Application deadline March 1 (now extended) . Download information and application in MS Word format. Contact Sam Batzli with questions.
  • January 25, 2006: The Wisconsin DNR purchased 10 new Landsat scenes for lake clarity monitoring that are now available from our online archive:

  • January 11, 2006: Public DNR Orthophotos now available for free download as county mosaics, SID compressed. This imagery is grayscale, WTM, ranges from 1992 to 2001, and is either 1-meter or 1-foot depending on the county. 70 of 72 counties are available.
  • December 19, 2005: The 2005 NAIP photography is now available for free download. This is much enhanced product over the 2004 counterpart. Most importantly, it is a statewide 1-meter dataset. Read more here (pdf).
  • November 2005: WisconsinView welcomes two new members: UW-Milwaukee and WLIA. For more info on membership follow this link.
  • September 1, 2005: 21 1970s Landsat 1-3 MSS images of Wisconsin are now available through our data download interface.
  • August 25, 2005: Landsat 4-7 data from ERSC and other sources is now available through our data download interface.
  • August 20, 2005: Large-format printed Wisconsin From Space posters now available for purchase.
  • August 8, 2005: WisconsinView has joined the DigitalGlobe RADII program and will make sample QuickBird data sets available to WisconsinView consortium members.
  • August 5, 2005: 2004 NAIP county photo-mosaics are now available for download. Read about the data in this pdf file.
  • July 15, 2005: 2 additional terabytes of storage added to WisconsinView network for public FTP.
  • June 23, 2005: Secretary of the Wisconsin DNR Signs WisconsinView MOU

  • June 5, 2005: University of Wisconsin Aquatic Sciences Center of Wisconsin SeaGrant signs WisconsinView MOU
  • April 7, 2005: Representative Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) supports AmericaView Authorization Bill by agreeing to co-signing with Rep. Ralph Regula (R-OH).
  • April 4, 2005: The first WisconsinView MOU came into effect when Ted Koch of the State Cartographers Office and WisconsinView director Tom Lillesand signed the document.
